Hah.
On Tuesday, it was announced that French debt had surpassed the symbolic €2,000 billion mark. At the end of the second trimester, the debt stood at €2023.7 billion, equivalent to 95.1 per cent of GNP. It has doubled in the past decade.

I think they understand economics just fine, they, like us, are just choosing to commit fiscal suicide on the alter of progressivism.

One would not want to appear racist by reducing spending. Racists don't get reelected.

The Nobel win comes, however, as France hasn't balanced a budget in decades, its economy is stagnant, joblessness is mounting and its deficit is rising despite repeated pledges to bring it within an EU-imposed threshold.

The Nobel prizes have become more of a reason to applaud progressivism than any sort of merit based reward and has been that way for some years. Al Gore and Obama both got them just to spit on Bush. It's a meaningless joke.

If it's meaningless, then sign me up for the cash prize.
