TV: Lost - Season 1 - SPOILER (Season 1)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I can't wait for Lost tonight!

Since they tried to make it look like Sayid shot Locke in the previews, it's going to be someone different. I guess Shannon shoots and nicks him.

I hear this is a Sayid episode, so we'll get more info on him. His past is supposed to involve the CIA and a suicide bomber.

It seemed like a placeholder episode. It was mostly people reacting to what happened last episode.

There was a revelation about who KO'd Sayid early on in the season, but surprisingly little was made of it.

I enjoyed Sayid's story.
Sawyer is going to be loved by women even more.

The previews for next week showed Michael so sick that he turns pale. Poison?

Also, Walt was watching Locke wash his bloody shirt. That makes me think that something bloody bad is going to happen next week.

Your new icon sucks compared to your last one Paul.

Only three episodes left.

Do you think Jack realized that his words almost got someone killed? I hope the writers don't let that go. His character is really getting on my nerves lately. He's way too "save the world".

According to the previews, it would appear that Michael is being poisoned, but by whom? The most likely suspect is Jin as he would be trying to get a space on the raft for Suni. Still, I'm curious about Hurley. He still has a small role and I know it'll be picking up soon.

As for a "monster kill list", mine would be (working from bottom up):
1. Locke
2. Sayid
3. Kate
4. Hurley
5. Sawyer
6. Charlie
7. Jin
8. Suni
9. Michael
10. Claire
11. Jack
12. Shannon
13. Walt

That's been linked in this chain already. I've been there several times recently. My curiousity is out of control with this show.

I'm glad they don't have a The Shield section or I'd really be fucked.

I like how they're introducing new "main" characters this late into the first season. It gives them more emotions to work with when filling the body bags, while still hanging onto the real main characters.

Michelle Rodriguez is showing up in the next episode I think. I have a hunch she may be doomed though.

I had to look Michelle Rodriguez up. She'll be in the Bloodrayne movie. She's been a voice in Halo 2 & True Crime: Streets of L.A., and acted in S.W.A.T., Blue Crush, Resident Evil, The Fast and the Furious, and Girlfight.

Here are some of her quotes that I found on IMDB:

"I don't want people thinking of me sexually. I don't want people to be like, 'She's hot-looking,' you know? I want them to listen to me for what I am saying. And I <blah blah blah blah...> sniff my armpits, and like, sit and burp <what???? Say that again.>
And I think the best way to do that is to sniff my armpits, and like, sit and burp every now and then. It just completely throws people off. I had a couple of offers to do some hot scenes in the shower with some guy and to make it real hot and sexy. The next thing you know, I'd be the next J.Lo or something. But that's easy. I want [success] the hard way." <Oh yeah. The hard way!>

"My favorite part of my body is my brain. I think <blah blah blah blah blah...>"

I've always thought that Michelle Rodriguez's whole "little girl with a bad ass attitude" act was a poor imitation of Jenette Goldstein's Pvt. Vasquez.

When I was reading about her I thought about Vasquez. Your correlation rings true.

loads of spoiler material below

This is getting good.

Apparently, big changes are coming. We're going to see a shake up of the cast, but that doesn't mean everyone is dying.

They've already begun casting season 2's regulars. So storylines are going to focus on different people next season and I like that idea. I think the season 1 people will still be players, but not in a big way.

Actually, what I think they'll do is move some people into the shadows as their stories have been told, kill some others, and make others disappear.

Right now, I see the show belonging to 4 people: Locke, Jack, Kate, and Sayid.

Yeah, Sawyer belongs in that list, but I think he's disappearing.

Before I get into that, the monster is going to be seen. Well, 2-5% of it and apparently, that's enough to solve some mysteries.

Also, next season is going to focus more on the island and the transmission.

My guesses:
-Michael, Jin, Sawyer, and Walt are getting on the boat. They'll discover something big at sea, but will "disappear". Them being at sea allows for more screen time for new characters, while keeping them as a large part of the plot.
-Suni, Shannon, Claire, and Charlie will play more of a background role next season as their stories have been covered and will be put on the back burner.
-Hurley is a mystery. He's already more of a background player, so I think he stays there. Its interesting to note that he seems to know everyone and all their secrets.
-Boone will stay dead, but could appear in flashbacks.
-Jack and Kate could really become background characters too. Jack has more of a chance to stay in the spotlight though as he seems to be the mayor of the island.
-Locke and Sayid are, IMHO, impossible to cut. Sayid is the explorer and has already made contact with others on the island not on the plane. Locke seems to have a connection to the island itself. He's also their only real muscle and the sole survivor of encountering the monster. I expect they may disappear, but will return.
-I think we're going to see another plane crash or more survivors found.

ABC really needs to promote the fuck out of this show over the summer to really draw in more viewers. Once they get hooked they won't be able to turn away, but it'll be hard for someone to jump into the plot in the middle.

We still don't *know* they're on an island, right? I mean, they found a crude map that wasn't to scale and could have been guesswork. They could really be in some zoo run by aliens.

According to that diary, the woman who wrote it saw some large sea-something she assumed was a whale. I think it's a submarine or something like that, and that the people who drowned were trying to chase it down.

I don't think the raft is going far, if it even leaves the beach. But if it does leave, it'll probably encounter that [sea-something[/i] in the water.

I'm curious about Walt telling Locke not to open "that thing." My guess is that the whispers, or someone else had Walt pass on the message.

I'm still really curious as to what happened to Locke after "that thing" turned the light on. He's unaccounted for until Boone's funeral.

We'll, 2-5% of it and apparently, that's enough to solve some mysteries.

I still think the moster is a big-ass elephant. We'll see it's trunk.

I can't wait for next week's episode. The "They're coming. When they do you'll have three choices, run, hide, or die!" warnign by the French woman was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

There's only two episodes left this season.

I think that raft is going to get off the island, but I'm sure it won't get saved.

Did you see that the season finale is going to have a "Who shot JR" type of ending?

I actually think it sucks that only 3 of us watch the show. Very few shows have ever brought up such mysterious plot lines. I recall the early years of the X-Files being like this.

Back when "X" was still alive and Mulder would be taping the X to his window to signal him, and cigarette smoking man was the big time villain....

That was the good X-Files. It got ridiculous later on.

The plotlines with Mulder's sister, Gillian's baby, cigarette smoking man's relationship to Mulder's mom, etc. were really stupid.

Mulder's disappearance in the last season reminded me of his current career. You have to imagine that he's smart and important, yet reclusive, when in reality he simply has overestimated his own worth.

David Caruso realized his mistake, you have to wonder when David Duchovny will.

I read through the spoiler site, so yeah, I guess the raft does make it off the island. I think it'll encounter something out in the water. Something that can move around in the water.
Hmm... I haven't read that diary in awhile. I should check to see if there are any new entries.

So do you think the next character fatality will be raft-related, from the others on the island, or from some other source?

It also sounds like the new character comes out of the hatch.

They didn't mention much about the hatch. They've dug down the sides of it, but did they ever hit a bottm? Does it lead somewhere?

I guess we'll know with the season finale.

I forgot the hatch lit up for Locke.

My guess for major character that is going to die is Shannon. She just doesn't serve a purpose anymore. Everyone else has ongoing storylines that weren't resolved. If you remember, Boone's character was fleshed out and he had no more secrets. Everyone but Shannon still has secrets.

I think the first 5 seasons were good... I dont think I watched after that.

I'm pretty sure that's about when I stopped watching too.

As for Shannon dying because she doesn't have secrets... *anybody* can have a lot of cool secrets (or terrible secrets).
Shannon had a habit of staging "rescue missions" with abusive boyfriends. One of these boyfriends could have been a part of something interesting, like smuggling drugs in Virgin Mary figurines, robbing banks with Kate, seducing wives to con their husbands, etc.

I watched X-Files up until shortly after the movie came out. I tried to get back into it at the end, but just couldn't get interested. Anybody know of an online synopsis that says what the heck went on with all the alien stuff, the baby, etc?

At the Sydney police station, the cop wanted to know why their names where different if they're brother and sister.
Cop: "Is she married?"
Boone: "She was married. She's not married anymore..."

Shannon was dating "Bryan" in Australia when Boone showed up with $50k. Could he tie into anything?

Source
Everybody on the island seems to have a secret. What's Shannon's? She has to be more than just a french-speaking blonde-hottie Boone-foil. Might she have some sixth-sense or supernatural power (a la Walt)?

Shannon was able to:
- slip into Jack's tent & steal the key from him in broad daylight (granted Jack was drugged at the time)
- find the hidden gun suitcase
- track & get the drop on Locke
- fire a gun (perhaps she even knew how to turn off the safety)

Perhaps Shannon *caused* Boone's death somehow, the same way Walt *caused* a bird to fly into the window. She was basically giving Boone a big slap in the face by cavorting with Sayid, a guy she knew Boone disapproved of.

The only shows I have on my *must see* list are Lost and Survivor. Maybe I have an affinity for watching people who are stranded on islands?
