Sean Connery stars in a western masquerading as a sci-fi film while intimidating people with his accent. Supporting dudes you might know: Peter Boyle, the dad from Everybody Loves Raymond except Malcolm, and the dad from Doogie Howser sporting a beard probably on loan from Connery, and Cliff Claven's mom sporting some drunken surliness, also probably on loan from Connery.
Synopsis:
Some workers are going insane after mining space rocks and committing suicide by walking into the vacuum of space without a suit. Naturally, the company sends an even more insane Scotsman to take over the mining station's marshal gig. After scrubbing the innards of a miner off the decompression chamber walls for the twentieth time, Sean finds out why.
Review:
Although about half an hour too long, not bad. It is very much a western in space. Frontier shit, no law except what your gun makes, showdown at high noon, lone wolf sheriff confronting the corrupt asshole who owns the town ... all these elements are present with a sci-fi facade, except the guns, actually, they still shoot bullets instead of lasers.
Highlight of the movie:
Connery threatens to kick Cliff Claven's mom's "nasty ass all over the room" if she doesn't help him find out why the miners are going psycho.
