The Darkest Hour

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Two friends head to Russia to sell their new app, but their plans are derailed as aliens invade Earth.

Bad acting. Bad plot. Bad aliens. Bad direction. Horrible dialogue.

This is not a good film. Here's an example of a scene that actually happens in this movie:
Two people clutch each other as they fall into a river. The guy frantically look for the girl he was holding as he surfaces. Many witnesses around and nobody sees her, and it would be impossible for her to get out of the water without being seen. Literally a minute later a flare shoots up from a rail yard a quarter of a mile away, if not farther. It's her.

I cannot stress enough the stupidity of that moment.

I think filmmakers are getting lazy or stupid. They couldn't have made the rail yard scene happen before the river?

And here's a tip, if you make your aliens ridiculously powerful, you can't then have them beaten by stupid little shit. You also can't have your characters doing stupid things to get everyone around them killed and then have me root for them.

Skip this turd.

I kinda liked it. It was exactly what I wanted, a pretty brainless movie about an alien invasion.

I do admit, that part on the river was odd. There's no way she'd have swam to shore then sprinted the quarter mile away. I just assumed the flare was from some other survivors.

I assume there was more to it originally. Maybe a scene got cut or some other editing snafu.
