Monster - 2008

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

The IMDB page.

See that poster? There is nothing even remotely like that in the film.

This is a Cloverfield ripoff made by The Global Asylum. (That link is to their IMDB page, and you'll see there that their specialty is to make cheap knockoffs of big movies. In fact, the talk on the Monster page is that Asylum makes their movies based on the trailers for big films, and rushes them so they're in video stores around the time the big name film is in theaters.

Onto the movie, it's unwatchable.

The film is 1 hour and 26 minutes long, and I would bet that an hour of that time is literally unwatchable. See, the filmmakers used the whole "shot on a handheld camera" to their advantage more so than any other movie in this genre. This film is almost completely violent shaking of the camera, black screens, shots of the ground, and distorted effects of the picture.

The monster is about as threatening as a fire hose on full blast...without the metal bit on the end.

I feel bad for the two female leads. You can tell that they really tried their best.

If you want to see a film in this genre, see Troll Hunter. Or just go read a book as this film is about as visually pleasing as a book.

1 out of 10 (The 1 is for the two actresses who brought their A game to one of the worst movies ever made.)
“Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole.” - Dr Thomas Sowell
