TV - Avatar: The Legend of Korra - cartoon

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

This is a show that just finished its first season on Nickelodeon. It is a sequel to the 4-season run of Avatar: The Last Airbender which was also quite good, for a childrens' show. It of course inspired the M. Night Shyamaln movie of the same name, which most A:TLA fans seem to hate but I found tolerable.

Anyway, Korra.... without getting into spoilers, she is the next reincarnation of the Avatar, after cute and deadly little Aang. She gets involved in the problems of Republic City, which is going through a 1940's-esque, nazi-like, "It isn't fair that some people are more talented than others, so they must be crippled so all can be equal" morality crisis. Extremely deep, for a Saturday morning kid cartoon.

And the goddam show ends on a murder-suicide, so damn. But it is still kid friendly. So geez.

If you haven't watched this stuff and need something to watch with your kids, the original is on Netflix... watch it. By the time you are done there should be some online options for watching Korra.

Since not many of you are lucky enough to have sons, I think your daughters would enjoy it, too. There are a lot of good, strong female characters that just don't take no shit from nobody.

Thor and Wasp meet Mordok (?) for the first time, basically a floating, giant head with tiny vestigal arms and legs. Thor and Wasp are all like WTF.

Thor: "It's like a Frost Giant's head on an infant's body!"

Thor: "Prepare your giant head to feel my wrath!"

Still laughing about it the next day.

M.O.D.O.K.

I think it's something like: "Mechanical Organism Meant Only for Killing."

I'm not making that up.
