Stars Rutger Hauer, Jennifer Jason Leigh, & a few other character actors you might recognize.
Supposed to be 16th c. Italy during the plague. King gets ousted from his castle by mercs he's hired (to take back the castle from someone else). The mercs are offered one full day of free looting as their payment. A contingent led by Rutger come to the conclusion that God's given them special dispensation to rule. Sometime after that, Rutger manages to kidnap someone's promised bride. The rest of the flick deals w\ the king & "good" mercs besieging the castle to get the chick back & kill the "greedy" mercs.
Halfway decent realistic period piece. No magic or anything fantastic. At least half of Jennifer Jason Leigh's scenes involved some form of nudity. Was directed by Paul Veerhoeven of Robocop and Total Recall fame. Oh, and that one Robert Heinlein novel adaptation.
