The Day the Earth Stood Still - remake

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

With Keanu.

If they remember what made the original poignant, this remake could be good.

At least Will Smith isn't in it.

Yeah, but Keanu's in it. I'll still take the Fresh Prince over Neo any day.

Ditto.

Dunno. This just seems more like a Keanu "There is no spoon" Reeves role than a Will "Oh no you didn't just shoot that green shit at me" Smith role.

Well, in Neo's defense, he'll totally nail the "standing still" part.

I can see Keanu doing Klaatu. Keanu does really well acting/being detached from reality. A visiting alien would have similar behavior. The vacant look might be a problem, but he's proven he can act beyond that, IMHO

I have to agree that Keanu would be good for the role.

What I fear most of all is what they're going to do to Gort. I expect some CGI monstrosity.

Looks like it isn't an anti-nuke message... it's a global-warming-warning.

Christ, and I was going to pay see it. Now I have to pirate it so I don't pay to get preached at with bad science. Just like how I did with "The Day After Tomorrow."

So...uh, why don't the aliens give us their, apparently, environmentally friendly technologies?

This movie is going to suck.

Right. IIRC, the original was the aliens warning humans that they shouldn't spread their warlike tendancies through the galaxy... so now it's.... don't spread your global warming through the galaxy? How bout just giving us the power generating/easy access to space technologies, you preachy alien dicks?

Trailer.

Looks like an Earth Firster's wet dream, what with the kick-ass action about how all humans need to die so the bunnies can laugh and play.

So it's not a remake as much as it is something so completely different and should probably have a different title.

Typical.

Same, saw it on HBO in demand when back at the rents.

Dad and I spent the entire time talking about how stupid it was.
