This is one of the Ghost House Underground independent films.
A small town is preparing for the high school prom when the dead start reanimating thanks to the local nuclear power plant.
Apparently, the writer is a hippie still stuck in the 80s. This movie gives no other explanation for the zombies except the nuclear power plant. Nor is it explained why the dead are reanimated on this particular evening.
All zombie rules are thrown out the window too. Zombies literally explode out of their graves like they're being shot out of a cannon and land in a full sprint. Zombies are alternatively fast as hell or shambling depending on what they needed to get the scene shot. Bites turn you, but apparently no longer make you sick or bring on death before tuning you. They're strong, smart, can climb, drive cars, etc. Although, what skills they use depend on the scene. They are also mesmerized by music, they make out (really), and eat each other.
Truth be told, it's more a matter of poor direction, writing and a total lack of respect for the genre.
Shallow characters, bad acting, poor writing, bad direction, etc.
More comedy than horror and it's not very funny.
Skip it.
2 out of 10.
