Hey zombie lovers
Fear Itself, a horror show on NBC, will air tonight at 10 and this episode is about zombies.
I should note that the episodes have been hit and miss.
The first was fantastic and covered a secret building where three women watched over a vampire to prevent it from getting loose.
The last one with two Psych stars was terrible about a woman who gets a note that her soon to be husband is a serial killer.

According to wikipedia, tonight's episode is done by Darren Lynn Bousman.
His history ...
Co-wrote Saw II.
Directed Saw II, III, IV.
Is slated to direct a remake of Scanners.
Also slated to direct Leprechaun 7.
Yeah, this dude sounds like a real winner.

Never really heard about the experts, but I guess it makes sense. The last episode was done by John Landis. That was the one I thought was horrible.
As for the guy doing tonight's, you're right. He doesn't sound great, but still...ZOMBIES!!!

The dude that did the vampire one looks like a Spielberg protege. Watching it currently, gonna've to leave it half finished, though, to make it to rehearsal.
& yeah, Landis has earned himself a high position on my shit list the past few years. Talk about someone who's a shadow of his former self.

You guys know that the broken levees in New Orleans was just the government covering up the fact that zombies had overrun the city in the middle of the hurricane when a proper response could not be mounted, right?

Tonight's episode was fucking horrible on top of horrible.
The twist towards the end was embarrassingly bad and ignored pretty much the rest of the episode.
The writer should be thrown under a bus while tied to the director.

It's not me, it's someone else.
Zombies are awesome, so it takes a special level of incompetence to fuck them up. I mean, Romero was able to become a legend off of them and none of his movies were known for their great writing.
I just looked up the writer and it was Steve Niles. He brought us 30 Days of Night and is mainly a comics writer. He has a movie in production right now called Heart, which judging by this show, should be just about one of the worst films of 2009.
I want to discuss the abomination that I watched last night, so if you taped it, leave the thread. I'm not going to bother hiding them.
*SPOILERS*
Here's the whole episode...
The story showed a girl waking up after New Year's Eve still feeling the effects of the booze. She proceeded to wander around her apartment doing various things like looking for her roommate, throwing up, flushing the toilet, checking herself out in the mirror, getting some water, lighting a candle, trying to make a phone call, trying to turn on different things (the power is out), looking out her window (lots of copters and sirens out there), etc.
I want to note here that the real story of the episode was the party itself. They kept showing it via flashbacks.
She hears screaming and such and heads to her neighbor's house, using keys and locks, and carrying a candle she lit. Nobody home at the neighbor's but blood is everywhere. She heads back to her apartment and the neighbor shows up dead, but walking around outside. The girl gets a phone call from a friend who proceeds to have a conversation with her despite saying "I can't hear you" or something to that effect. The friend tells the girl to head to Jack's house where it's safe. So the girl grabs her car keys, purse, etc. and heads out of her apartment. In the hall, the zombie neighbor completely ignores her and just walks around beating on doors. The girl's roommate, Bob (not his name, but I forget it) shows up out of nowhere and he's dying. Zombie neighbor ignores him too.
Bob dies and the girl gets into the elevator (during a power outage...) and before the doors shut Bob reanimates and the girl is freaking out trying to get away.
Once downstairs, she heads to her car and a guy shows up to mug her. He's talking to her and asking her to hand over her keys. Their standoff lasts long enough for a zombie to come over and bit his leg. The girl gets in her car backs up running over the zombie that just saved her and throwing the mugger a good distance. Then something happens to her car, I think they implied that she couldn't get it in gear. Her roommate Bob appears out of nowhere again and is coming at her. Meanwhile, the mugger is now zombified and coming from the other way. She jets out the passenger door. Jack then calls and she's trying to talk to him while he warns her about the zombies. She says she can't hear him and he says the same.
Now she's in an alley and an elderly couple are walking to a building. She screams to them for help, but they ignore her. She follows them into the building and she barricades the door. She then watches the old man and woman share their final moment before he kills her to "prevent her from being one of them". The old man then gets up and starts shooting at the girl saying "You did this to her." She runs to the basement and starts kicking out a panel on the floor hoping to get away. She hears the old guy scream and she slowly makes her way back up the stairs. Bob is there and has killed the old man. She screams and runs outside. A cop is there and she asks for help, but he's zombified. Some random runs to ask him for help and the cop eats him while the girl screams and acts horrified.
Now she's walking through the streets being grossed out and terrified watching zombies eat people. I'm not sure why the dead aren't reanimating. She makes it to Jack's and goes through the security door via the door knob. She gets to his door and is banging on it screaming for him to open up. Finally she gets in through the secured door and approaches her friend Jill who is sitting on a couch screaming. The girl is asking her what's wrong and trying to get her to calm down. Jack comes in and shoots the main character.
At this point the flashbacks reveal that the girl had told Jack she loved him, but before he could respond a chemical factory explosion distracted them. Yes, that's what caused the zombies. Bob grabbed the girl at this point and said that he didn't mean Jack loved her, then he kissed her. She kissed him, but brushed off his advances. That's when she saw Jack making out with the other girl that she sees in his apartment later. So she goes home and eats a whole bottle of pills and half a bottle of booze. Yes, she kills herself. Bob comes home finds her and tries to bring her back. A neighbor kid walks in and attacks Bob.
Back in the apartment, the girl is getting up and Bob appears out of nowhere to kill Jack. The other girl is screaming in horror as the main girl and Bob hold hands and approach her slowly.
That's right, the main girl has been a zombie the whole time. I can imagine the pitch meeting when some dipshit thought this idea up. I'll bet they were giving each other high fives and saying what a great idea it was. Well guess what? It sucked and didn't make a bit of fucking sense. None of that girl's actions throughout the story were those of a zombie. If the rest of the zombies she ran into couldn't drive, use doors, use keys and locks, throwing up, build barricades, etc. then how the fuck could she? A twist isn't a good twist unless there is logic behind it. The Beverly Hills 90210 episode mixed in with zombie bits and the zombie lovers finale were just toppings on this turd sundae.
If this were a movie and I was ranking it, I'd give it a -5 out of 10. I wouldn't trust this writer to write the word "zombie" on a piece of paper let alone write a TV show about them. And the direction was equally as bad. Poor lighting, lots of Bourne action shots to cover up bad makeup, etc.
Easily one of the worst things I've ever watched in my entire life.
On a different note, I'm checking out the Fear Itself website and people are raving about last night's episode. Not many, but nobody has been negative about it yet. I just don't understand people, which is probably why I hate them so much. Why do people accept shit being fed to them and smile about it? Are they that stupid or have they simply lost all hope for good direction and writing?

On a different note, of the Fear Itself series, the following have been good episodes:
The Sacrifice
Family Man
Eater
The rest have been ass.

Update, I posted a negative review of the show on NBC's website and after 30 minutes, my post still isn't on their page...
