Sunshine - sci-fi

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

The sun's going out and they need to reignite the pilot light.

My early thoughts: the science will be so stupidly bad that I wont be able to focus on the movie.

First off, re-ignite the sun? I'm not even going into what they'd need to even try it.

Second, 'OMG, it's full of stars'
Wadda mean? Other people can read this?!

Looks like a box office bomb.

It was interesting for about thirty minutes.

Here's a four minute+ extended trailer.

It's pretty enough.

They REALLY play up that Danny Boyle directed this and he's the guy who brought you 28 Days Later. That all by itself is a joke as that movie was good for about 45 minutes then started to really suck.

Throwing in this movie and I'd say Danny Boyle has made about 45 minutes worth of good movies.

What a spectacular piece of shit. The science makes Armageddon look like a documentary.

The movie starts off with the mission already well under way and everything going fine. They're close to completing their mission when a discovery and decision makes things go haywire. There's your movie.

The acting is terrible, the characters are shallow, the writing is grade school shit, and the direction is awful.

Examples:

An event occurs that endangers the ship and the "perfect" AI doesn't do shit about it. Later, it does. Huh? Where's the logic?

Metal ships with organic life forms on board get closer than Mercury to the sun. THE SUN. You know, it's kind of hot there. As a bonus, they're planting a bomb into the middle of it. A metallic bomb, that has to travel through the sun.

There is an observation room facing the sun that crew members like to sit in. That's glass between them and the sun.

You thought the shaky cam was bad in the Bourne films? Here it's on steroids and they throw in crappy images, flashbacks and such to really make you not actually see what's happening.

Going back to the science...and fuck it THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH...here's what you need to know from two scenes:
Scene 1- The ship is rotated so that a guy in a specially designed suit can be shaded from the sun while working on the ship. The ship rotates while he's out there and he dies immediately from the sun burning him up.
Scene 2- A man, in regular clothes, spacewalks without a suit and lives. Nevermind that he did so without shade in the coldest environment imaginable. He just gets a little frostbite on one hand.

Yeah, Danny Boyle should be proud of this steaming piece of shit.

A horrible, horrible movie that should only be appreciated in the same way Ed Wood's movies were appreciated.

1 out of 10.
