Just from sheer chance, I'm going to blame New Line for the real reason you won't be a-seein' this in the theatres. That place is pissing me off. They still owe their existence to Wes Craven & Freddy Krueger.

While both Freddy & Jason are owned by New Line, I believe that Sean Cunningham threw a significant amount of cash at "Freddy vs. Jason," which would explain a thing or two about the ending of that film. One hopes they don't pussy out like that in this medium.
