Cyberbullying? Come the fuck on. Is it going to be illegal to speak to someone above a certain decibel level when yelling leads to someone killing themselves?
"This decision is disappointing, but is a direct example of why we need laws to address new crimes like cyberbullying," Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) said in a statement issued after the case was dismissed.

Democrat. Woman. California. Not that I'd dream of saying there's a pattern or stereotype there, but this must be the chick that never got invited to a high school party in her life. At least not one that was worth being at.

Law enforcement authorities in Missouri investigated Drew, but concluded that no state laws had been broken. The state later enacted a cyberbullying law that criminalized harassment via computers and other electronic devices.

Another reason I hate that state.

Sounds like it might be wise to start phasing out use of any social networking sites based in CA. Just in case.

I'm sure the laws will go to far. But what are we to do? What that woman did was mean and vulgar. As far as I am concerned we could stop the planet and kick her ass off.

Legal to let your children walk home unattended.
Legal representatives for the couple said Montgomery County's Child Protective Services has changed its initial decision from "unsubstantiated neglect" to "ruled out" in an investigation stemming from a Dec. 20 incident in which their son, Rafi, 10, and daughter, Dvora, 6, were detained by police when returning home from a park.

Because cops there apparently have nothing better to do than play the role of a glorified school bus driver (which is all they're probably qualified to do anyway). I'll say it again: people who stand by and enforce stupid fucking rules "because someone told them to" or "because it's their job" are fucking stupid themselves. That includes those two cops and every member of CPS in that place.

Tag? Banned.
“This means while at play, especially during recess and unstructured time, students are expected to keep their hands to themselves,” she told a local Fox affiliate. “The rationale behind this is to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students.

Go fuck yourself.

On Thursday, the school district attempted to clarify.

“We want to initiate a new form of tag-like running games to minimize the issues of ‘you were tagged/no I wasn’t’ or ‘the tag was too hard and felt more like a hit.’ Tag is not banned,” the district said in a statement on its website. “We plan to support our elementary students with new games and alternatives that still involve running and exercising.”

Star Wars t-shirt-wearing 7th grader bitched out for...
A spokesperson for Lamar Consolidated Independent School District says the LCISD secondary school handbook spells out potential violations of dress code. The list includes “symbols oriented toward violence.”

School calls cops on first graders. Probably because the children were talking over the heads of the admins.

That story's a metric fuckton darker and more serious than your flippant description.

The nefarious plan, school officials say, involved using silica gel — a substance commonly found inside sealed food bags that is designed to reduce spoilage — to poison their classmate, according to the Dispatch News. Details of the plan were not immediately available, but it appears that the students had overlooked one detail: Silica gel is not toxic.
...
“The plot was not actually carried out.”

Maybe if they'd shown up to science or chemistry class one day.

One thing I miss about the '50s and '60s is the junior chem sets they made. Holy fuck, those things were packages of death. You could easily create cyanide gas in quantities large enough to take out several people. The times, they are a-changin'.

EDIT: Why the fuck isn't there one of these?
