On my planet, bringing in a lawyer for something like that is known as, Aa dick move", although, "I'm a single Mom" isn't really descriptive enough to let us know whether or not the cost of the "Santa Experience" would actually hurt her, or not. A lot of her story hinges on "it would."

But a dick move to bring in a lawyer.

A dick move is calling the principal. A lawyer is proof your child's going to get picked on until he leaves the house for the first time and fails out of an expensive-ass college after one semester, loses his scholarships ans grants, and is forced to move back into your basement.

At which time the lawyer uncle sues the university.

Troy can tell you.... all those dead lawyer jokes exist for a reason.

Everyone is at fault here.

The parents who are threatening legal action have a right to be pissed, but not to send a letter. They certainly do not have a legal leg to stand on and shouldn't be demanding the mother pay for some bullshit "Santa Experience". Deal with it yourselves and stop blaming others. Keeping that myth going, even when confronted with the truth, is fucking simple. Your kids are in first grade and think you're gods, they'll believe anything you tell them.

In fact, I'm quite certain something like this happened to my oldest years ago, and when she asked me about it I simply said, "It's real if you believe in it."

I might have also said "That kid's parents must not love him very much because they're not enjoying his childhood." (I did.)

The mom who wrote that post could be an attention whore, but she clearly thinks her parenting style is superior to and trumps all others. Maybe you don't want your kid to believe in Santa, and that's fine, but a good parent would realize other parents might want to maintain that myth, so how about telling your boy to keep the secret to himself? It's what all the parents I know do when their kids discover the truth.

The mom's probably an immigrant. (That's for TPR :D )

Yeah, I remembered this happened to my kid in the 1st grade, or so. I just blew it off, "That kid is stupid. Santa obviously exists because do you think WE can afford all this stuff you get for xmas?" And I didn't even need a lawyer.

When my kids asks, I just ask them what they believe.

Speaking of which, the "where do babies come from" question has added a funny new addition.... one of his friends told him that babies come from "the magic baby hole."

Which is pretty much absolutely correct.
