DirecTV admits they suck

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

People pissed about Rob Lowe ads.

DirecTV's response:
Members of his group have written and called DirecTV, asking that the ad be removed. But Darris Gringeri, spokesman for DirecTV, said it won't.

"The ads will continue to run for the vast majority of viewers who have told us they enjoy the spots and understand that, like all of our commercials, they take place in a fantasy world and are not based in reality," Gringeri said.

So what you're saying is all the claims made in commercials are not reality? Considering the very first one I saw has Rob Lowe stating you have a 99.9% up time, I agree. Total fantasy.

I have experienced 99.9% uptime with DirecTV.

And, in line with me desire to troll people who whine too much, people with actual shy bladders can go fuck themselves, if they really feel they need to share that shit with me.

DirecTV sucks.

I remember when they were blatantly lying to new subscribers telling them all they had to do to get local channels is write them a letter. Then when the local channels refused to give them waivers, the customers would go back to DirecTV who would say the local channels are just being dicks.

Plus, there's the whole NFL package thing. Their policy there is the same shit EA does with its sports games.

Fuck DirecTV who is now owned by AT&T.

Who is DirecTV's competitor? I'm forgetting their name. They suck too.

Had Direct for about 2 years. I don't remember any down time. I'm guessing there was some. But I don't remember it. Worst part is their customer service. They billed us for the NFL package and wouldn't take it off our bill. Had to really fight for them to get it off. It was an "on by default, call us if you don't want it" feature when we signed up. Since we didn't call (cause we didn't know it was there) they billed us for it. Then, when we wanted to cancel, they said we had just renewed our contract for 2 years because they recently dropped our bill by $10 a month when we canceled some services. The only other time I dealt with them was maybe 12 years ago. Signed up for a package. They came an installed. We didn't get what we were promised. So we canceled immediately. Had to really fight them back then to get out of the fake contract they created for us.

So, the service was as good as any other I've had. Their customer service is the worst.

I've had DishNetwork for many years as well. Never had issues with them either. I can remember maybe 3 times where we lost signal to snow in the 6+ years we used them. Hell, even our Comcast cable went out the other night. I don't see more reliability from one over any of the others in my experience. None of them are 100% up.

This is the only complaint I have against them. I added another box in my basement about 15 months into my 2 year contract, and they said that started the contract over. Giving them more money means I voided my original contract. Shit is shady.

Like I said previously, the trick they used to get people to switch from cable promising local channels was fraud. Those people left, locked into a 2 year deal, and then realized they had been lied to and wouldn't have local channels.

Both companies have really low customer service ratings, but to be fair, so do most cable companies.

Who do you use for internet?

I saw that and holy shit were you getting robbed. We pay $14 for our landline. (We need it for the alarm.)

Only broadband option where I am.

That sucks.

We had Dish for a while. It was fine, and this was back when cable barely had any HDTV, and we owned an HDTV. Twice storms interfered with it.

A new wave of adverts from DirecTV with Rob Lowe again. You never see this one.
Image

Or better yet, how about, "Hi, I'm Rob Lowe and I have DirecTV."

"Hi, I'm super creepy Rob Lowe and I videotape myself fucking teenage girls who can barely drive legally. I also have DirecTV."

Right? Doesn't creepy Rob Lowe already have Direct TV? Even if the girls weren't underage he filmed them without them knowing.

Age of consent in Georgia was 16. So was the girl. Like Billy Idol said, "Rock the cradle of love."

Comcast files complaint over ads and BBB tells DirecTV to pull them.

The heart of the complaint:
The commercials claim DirecTV has "better signal reliability than cable" and "shorter customer service wait times." The Better Business Bureau National Advertising Division said those claims are "unsupported" and they should discontinue the ads.

DirecTV's response:
In response to the ruling, DirecTV said the various Lowe advertisements are so outlandish and exaggerated that no reasonable consumer would believe the statements made in them require substantiation.

Get that? Their ads, which promote a message of 99% up time "are so outlandish that anyone with half a brain should realize it's all BS and exaggerations!"

Comcast should respond with an ad campaign where only losers, serial killers, and child rapists subscribe to DirecTV and when they complain say, "But the ads are so outlandish and exaggerated that nobody should believe them!"

Got to love advertising.

As for uptime, I had my first outage in... a year? about a month ago when we had snow/slush/sleet/icing all at once and my dish got coated with it all. I don't blame them for that. It wasn't snowing in space and their satellites were still pumping out signal.

Rob Lowe is right.

DirecTV admits they suck

Post by GORDON »

I saw a new ep of Brooklyn 99 on the DVR so went to watch it last night, and I got a 30 minute recording of the DirecTV message about how they wanted to renew their contract with Fox, but Fox didn't wanna. So no (legal) B99, and I guess no (legal) Orville, tomorrow night. The universe is really coming at The Orville with a hatchet, it seems, this after the football preempt.

That message you got from DirecTV was propaganda. I hate that shit.

"We really want to give you FOX, but FOX doesn't want our customers to have it anymore! Woe is us! It's not our fault!"

In reality, they're just balking at FOX's licensing rates. Maybe FOX is asking too much. Maybe they're asking too much for a sister channel. Maybe DirecTV is trying to pad their bottom line by low balling FOX. The truth lies somewhere in there.

You'll just have to watch via Hulu or online until DirecTV starts paying for FOX again.
