Does bud cause lack of motivation? You can pretty much write your own joke for that.

However, the more interesting bit comes here...
The lowest dopamine levels were seen in people who met diagnostic criteria for marijuana abuse or dependence. This suggests that measuring dopamine levels could provide a marker of a person's level of addiction to marijuana, the study authors said.

I have yet to meet anyone, in my entire life, that I'd call "addicted" to ganja in the same way someone's addicted to meth, opiates/opioids, booze, etc.

Natural dopamine levels for individuals are all over the place depending on a wide variety of factors, so that quoted paragraph is mostly bullshit.

Bill Hicks, one of my favourite philosopher-comedians, on drugs:
They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do just as well — you just realize that it's not worth the fucking effort. There is a difference.

If you want to understand a society, take a good look at the drugs it uses. And what can this tell you about American culture? Well, look at the drugs we use. Except for pharmaceutical poison, there are essentially only two drugs that Western civilization tolerates: Caffeine from Monday to Friday to energize you enough to make you a productive member of society, and alcohol from Friday to Monday to keep you too stupid to figure out the prison that you are living in.

If you don't think drugs have done good things for us, then take all of your records, tapes, and CDs and burn them.

Not all drugs are good, all right? Some of them... are great. Just gotta know your way around them, is all.

I loved when Bush came out and said, "We are losing the war against drugs." You know what that implies? There's a war being fought, and the people on drugs are winning it.
