One of many reasons my mic is detachable and detached by default.

How else would it know when I say "ok Google"?

Yeah, me too. I only plug in when it is time to talk.
How else would it know when I say "ok Google"?


Also a valid point, but not if they are selling, or even just sending, ambient captured noise to someone. Monitoring for "Ok, Google Now" is one thing, selling/sending/processing blocks of captured audio is another.
