Professional Poker League?
I'm amazed this didn't happen 10 years ago.
This makes so much sense too. Instead of watching nobodies who rarely have personality, they can focus attention onto their top people and personalities. Now you can bring in advertisers and make these guys real names. Hell, you can highlight feuds and all the side action that goes on.
The main event will still be a good watch because nothing beats Helmuth playing against "donkeys", but a league focused on the true professionals should draw in a good amount of viewers.
In related news, apparently ESPN2 aired a poker tournament this weekend. Why is that special? Because they aired it LIVE. It went until 2 or 4 in the morning and featured the hands that get edited out of the Main Event telecasts. You know the hands, the ones where people actually fold and don't bluff 50% of the time.
