If you haven't played the game, this whole thing might go over your head.
If you have played the game, holy shit did they NAIL a lot of the details!
I enjoyed it a lot, mainly because I got to say, "That's in the game" basically the whole movie. However, I can fully understand why someone would not like it. It's supernatural horror-lite. It's more creepy than horror. You never feel real life or death stakes for the characters, and surviving is simply about focusing on details, which characters don't do several times.
You have to really watch this one or you'll miss the anomalies.
As someone who played the game, I did think the filmmakers blurred anomalies a bit too much and added some additional characters to tie in the main character's story.
Overall, if you played the game, watch it. If you haven't, you can probably skip it.
Side note: The game is really short. If you're interested in a unique gaming experience, give it a whirl.
