A couple (Jaime King and Frank Grillo) are having a party for some friends during a storm with tornadic activity. They're doing so in their new home they got during a foreclosure. Meanwhile, a trio of brothers pulled a robbery that has gone wrong. The brothers head home, but they don't know their mother's house (Rebecca De Mornay) was lost in a foreclosure. Chaos ensues.
Other familiar faces round out the cast, including a guy who looks a lot like Colin Farrell, but isn't him. Oh, and this is Frank Grillo pre-Marvel, which is funny to see. I had to hit IMDB to be sure it was him as he's very small. He had not been hitting the gym (or more...?) yet to play Crossbones.
I'm surprised I had never heard of this film before, but not totally surprised. The acting is really good. Everyone brings their A game.
The story has flaws, but is still engaging. However, it's a really tough watch. This is not a happy film. I'm sitting down to watch a sitcom to get this film out of my mood.
It's not torture porn, but it kind of is... The antagonists control the show and they're not very big on being nice. The party goers, of course, have to do stupid shit to continue being controlled, but they do, which gets a bit maddening as a viewer.
I'm glad I watched it, but I'd never sit down to watch it again.
