An Olympic skier moves from the slopes to poker rooms becoming the boss of the biggest and most exclusive high stakes game in the U.S. This is all based on a true story, and and only some elements were changed or added for effect. (That link obviously has spoilers.)
Jessica Chastain plays Molly, Idris Elba is her lawyer, Kevin Costner is her dad, and Michael Cera is Player X. All are great. I went in knowing very little about the movie, but when I saw Cera I knew who he was playing, and based upon the linked article I was right. It also sounds like my instincts about the person were true, which is probably why you don't see him anymore. If his line in the movie is true, what a fucking piece of shit.
This is an excellent film. Well acted and very interesting. This is also an Aaron Sorkin script, and his feature film directorial debut.
Molly Bloom is a very impressive woman for a lot of reasons. See it.
