Remember when Amy Schumer was going to be Barbie? She had to drop out due to "scheduling conflicts".
Anne Hathaway is now set to play Barbie in 2020.
Interesting that Schumer had scheduling conflicts with a film that hasn't even started filming due to a bomb that's currently sitting unrented on dollar shelves in video stores.
I'm sure there weren't other factors like her shooting her mouth off everywhere and her fame dive bombing.

WHen we went to see Oppenheimer, there were lots of young girls/women completely dolled up (get it?) in pink and dresses and heels there for Barbie. Been a long time since I saw that kind of fan base at a theater.

Robbie was cast in 2019, and Gerwig was announced as director and co-writer with Baumbach in 2021. The rest of the cast were announced in early 2022. Filming took place primarily at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, in England and on the Venice Beach Skatepark in Los Angeles from March to July 2022.
Barbie premiered at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on July 9, 2023, and was theatrically released in the United States on July 21 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
