I think this just goes to show you how out of touch Hollywood is with regular folks. Instead of avoiding a topic that will immediately turn off half your potential audience and a topic that people want to escape, they just HAVE to tell this story.

No way, this is all about ratings. If you can get half of America to watch your show you are a major success. If you have to piss off the other half to do it no one cares.

Well, their ratings are complete shit and nobody gives a fuck about the show anymore, so you're right in that this could be a hail mary attempt to get someone to watch.

The election showed people are sick of this shit, so if this goes off the deep end liberal, the best they can hope for is that they only lose some of the people actually watching, not half. The election showed lefties also won't start watching at this point, because they are all whine.
