Synopsis:
Russell Brand showcases his insane psychological complexes and utter lack of philosophical scholarship.
Review:
Russell compares himself to various religious and political figures throughout history, including Jesus, Gandhi, Malcolm X, and others. There's also the bit where he takes you into some passages from his book of fevered rantings. Each one is like an icepick being repeatedly jabbed into your brain by the crazy Joe Pesci-like entity that no doubt resides in Russell's head. He also touches on his sobriety and love of transcendental meditation (discussed with David Lynch) where makes him seem even more of a tool somehow. I can't tell if he's for real or if his mind has snapped and he's living his life with a Spinal Tap level of disconnect.
Verdict:
Fucking seriously, how does this motherfucker have any money anymore? He's the British Pauly Shore and stars in one mediocre movie per year. Is it the accent? Can you just get away with whatever if it's said with a working class British accent so nauseating that it could make Eliza Doolittle retch?
