further X-Men sequels

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Apparently, Vinnie Jones's contract includes X-Men 3, as well as 4 and 5.

It will be interesting to see who else they get back.

I bet Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stuart will return. Hugh seems to love the Wolverine character even pushing for the solo film.

Ian McKellan has said he loves doing Magneto, so he could come back.

Since they like highlighting Wolverine they should make 4 about the Brood and 5 about the assault on Asteroid M.

Doesn't really mean anything. I think they tagged them all for 3 total when they signed up. Tyler Mane (???) was obligated for 3 movies, but they only had Sabertooth in the first one.

I remember reading that the guy who plays Chewbacca in Star Wars has a contract for movies 7, 8, & 9.

I don't think they'll make a followup to the X-Men series. I'm sure there will eventually be another X-Men movie but it'll probably be it's own take on the series, like Batman Begins or Superman Returns.

I think they'll try a follow up, but Barry's out. Hugh will be doing his own Wolverine series (maybe a cameo for him), and the other original cast (from the first movie) aren't contactually obligated. I see maybe Bobby Drake returning. Maybe Kitty as well. I don't see anything great happening, though.

X-Men makes money. Thus, they have the money to pay actors to come back. Maybe not Halle, but she's worthless anyway. You underestimate Hugh's love for this character. I think he'd definately be aboard and sequels, particularly since they'd all focus on him as he's the biggest name actor playing the biggest name character.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I think his willingness is definitely there. He knows he lucked out on a huge cash cow for himself, and he's don't a pretty damn good job with one of the most beloved of Marvel's characters.

I just think his time's going to be focused on his solo Wolverine movies, making his roles in any future movies much smaller than they've been to date.

There was an interview a while back, I think it was with Jackman... he lost weight for one role, and had to gain for the next, then he had to lose it again for the next.... and he just started doing his normal weight-loss routine, and it wasn't working... and he was thinking, "Wah? Oh, wait, I'm over 40 now."

As much as I would like him to live forever, power lifters start not looking so great into their 50's.

Fucking stupid.

I'm all for diversity, but taking an established character that's been around for 50 years, and been in sexual relationships with a large number of women a few of which led to character defining moments is lazy.

Meh, there are plenty of men that lived most of their lives in the closet before they eventually realized the truth about themselves. Maybe he's been gay all along and just didn't understand what it was he was feeling. It would help explain that large number of women you mention; he's dissatisfied with his relationships and they never last because deep down he really wants cock.

Maybe he's a fictional character and making him gay was just some political statement on the part of the guy drawing the pictures.

Also a possibility, and not in conflict with what I said. Both can be so.

Some of these cahracters have been around a long time. I heard recently a story told by an elderly gay man talking about how things were when he was younger. He didn't even really know he was gay. He was attracted to men and knew it, yes, but these were things that were never discussed. He thought liking men but pushing that aside and being with women was just something that all men did. It wasn't until our more modern age that he discovered what he was was homosexual.

I know that sounds silly, but when you consider how throughout our history the discussion has been about gays choosing that lifestyle it kind of makes sense that he'd think that choosing to be with women and ignore the attraction to men would be the normal thing all the other men were doing by choice.

Marvel has been pretty much crushing the comics they no longer have film rights to. Might be part of that. Quote that made me chuckle...
Since Disney now owns Marvel, does this now make Iceman the first male Disney princess?

I thought the XMen movies were clever enough working as an allegory for homosexuals in society... up to and including the scene in which Bobby "comes out" as a mutant to his parents.

But now this is just right on the nose, isn't it. What a great victory for gay rights.

I knew immediately this was a Family Guy reference... but thinking about it, that was actually Iceman in that little vignette, wasn't it.

FG called it years ago.

Or was it robot Chicken?
