The Shield

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Let me start by saying to anyone who is reading this and hasn't seen The Shield, you're missing a hell of a show. Just go pick up Season 1's DVD. Watch the very first episode and if you aren't hooked, don't bother watching the rest. But I guarantee, that first episode will get you.

As to your question Malcolm, they are currently in season 5b or season 6 depending on who you ask. There are two episodes left in this season.

The Shield started with a 5 year plan, but FX talked Shawn Ryan (the creator) into two more seasons.

So they move 6 episodes from season 5 into this year as they weren't sure yet if it was coming back, but they did want it to come back. (Desperate on FX's part, huh?) Anyway, they threw on some more episodes and they are now all combined to be season 6.

Season 7 starts new Jan/Feb and will be the final season.

Mr. Ryan says he really loves these characters, but with the theme of the show, there's only so much you can do and he wants to move onto new characters. He hints that he may even take a lot of the cast with him.

I finally got into season four when they added Glenn Close. Intriguing so far.

Damn, forgot she was in the show.

To be honest, the writing in the first 4 seasons were exceptional. Season 5 starts to slide a touch just because they started stretching the original plan. It's still far, far better than anything on the regular networks in terms of TV drama.

May be better, but I still only see one way the Shawn Ryan can end the series. It's just a matter of how he gets there.

Maybe he was confused about his sexuality?

And what an asshole shooting her in front of their kids.

I liked the ending. I'd explain, but spoilers.

Let's just say I think it was less vague than you probably do.

I know... Spoilers for a show that's over a decade from its end.
