Doctor Strange
Do you know Doctor Strange's origin story?
Marvel doesn't give a fuck.
Very interesting, but I don't think this will work with every character.
Still, if Marvel/Disney was smart they could release an animated origin story a month prior to the movie...

Works for me. I don't mind a good origin story, but you certainly don't have to start with it. Save it for the fourth or fifth movie down the line.
Out of curiosity, do new comic lines always start with origin stories the way the movies have?

I want to say not anymore.
Wolverine's origin wasn't told until 2001.
Nobody knows where the Walking Dead came from, just that Ric Grimes woke up in that hospital.

Hmmm.
I think the problem with doing an origin story LATER in the series is that it then becomes a prequel, and don't they always suck? Even if people love the franchise, by that point they KNOW he is going to live, and most of the contrived tension and caring about the character is lost. You KNOW he is going to live/prevail/whatever, so who cares about this particular story.

Well.... come on. None of us are new to cinema. Good writers know how to build up tension. It's all artificial... there's no inherent danger in sitting in a dark room watching flashy lights on the wall, yet good film makers can get our pulses racing, tears to eyes, etc. WHich is all harder (or impossible) to do in a prequel because we already know where it is going.

If only there were a way to tell the origin before you saw the movie...
Or hell, go get the comic book!

Ewan McGregor is the latest rumor.
I could see it.

After everyone in Hollywood has been rumored for the job, Doctor Strange has finally been cast.

I thought Ewan would have been better, but Cumberbatch is a good actor. He has a chance of nailing it.
