It appears Marvel really is trying to sabotage Fox.
It's their own fault for being so shortsighted in the past.

"I have to say, quite honestly as I understand it, now the X department is forbidden to create new characters."
There are too many already. There are a dozen versions of each, too. You have enough.

I think they really are going to cancel FF prior to the movie, and honestly, they won't be missed. They are a relic from the 60s existing on name alone.
Also, if you don't know, Wolverine is going to die this month and they have no plans for him to come back anytime soon. He's one of their two biggest characters so it's interesting that Marvel is willing to gamble like this on a cash cow.
Marvel REALLY wants their characters back.
I think they've got a shot to get FF back, but no shot at getting Spider-Man or the X-Men back.

Don't blame me for these spoilers. Blame Singer who keeps leaking them.
Spoiler: Character reveal.
Although, if you have never read the books, you won't have a clue about it.
MUCH bigger spoiler here for a specific character you know.
All I can say to that is "Fuck yes".

Hmm. Olivia Munn as Psylocke, but they draw a fair comparison here...

The more I think about it, the more his traditional look doesn't translate well to film. Here's him with a couple others.

I haven't seen costumes that out of place since the wreck of '87.
