Woke up in Kentucky. Did a tour at Mammoth Cave tour first thing, and drove to the Shiloh Battlefield to see where my ancestors kicked Yankee ass. Continued on to Memphis in time for a late dinner.

The Porkapolypse has begun.

Tonight was pulled pork shoulder, BBQ baked beans, hush puppies. Had a restaurant microbrew followed by sweet tea. Will be "hooking up" with Vince tomorrow.

Did a tour at Mammoth Cave tour first thing,

Your wife posted on FB that you guys were heading there. I wanted to respond, "So that's how he plans to do it", but I didn't know if anyone besides you would think that to be funny.

I got that reference.

When she did the Facebook status update that we were all at mammoth cave, I actually typed out, "second biggest hole I've ever been in." Decided that was too crude even for me. :-)

You've been to Cleveland or Detroit?

Wow, I'd forgotten about that one. Good movie.

That might have been Dan's best work.

Tonight was dinner with Vince and his #2 choice for life partner (hetero [probably]).

Pulled pork shoulder, pork ribs, beef brisket, and beans that had more pork in them. Had a coke with pork. For dessert this amazingly good fried coconut pie.

I don't think I can move after that. May have to just put on a diaper.

I flew into KY a little less than a year ago. Cool state. :D

Mammoth Cave is okay. You have to walk around a few dams, but I can technically kayak Mammoth Cave National park from the river a mile from my house.
I have no idea how many days it'd take though.

Tonight was pulled pork, beans with pork, slaw, coconut cake, sweet tea, at my fave BBQ place in town that only locals know about. We pull up and my kid says, " You brought us to eat... At a shack?"

Yesterday I finally stopped by the BBQ Bus that's been parked in the parking lot of the Food Town across the street for the past couple of weeks. It was the best most tender and smokey brisket I've ever had in my life, and the links were almost as phenomenal. I had to close my office door and have some alone time with that brisket. Then I had to take a nap after.

Their sauce is awful, but that's okay. That meat didn't need any sauce anyway. It's absolutely perfect naked.

I'm going to stop by on the way home today and get a couple of pounds of it for the weekend.

Weird that the BBQ Bus didn't have BBQ.

Is this really a fight you'd like to start up again? I was trying to behave in GORDON's Memphis thread, but I'm not afraid to take up the torch of truth and justice and BBQ.

You'd have to learn what BBQ is first.

I know you yankees have different meaning for some words, but real southern BBQ is all about the brisket. Pork is for breakfast sausage.

It's not something someone from north of the 30th parallel is equipped to understand.
