The Hunger Games Trilogy - Movies/books thread.

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Saw Mockingjay Part 1.

Since they decided to make the 3rd book, which is the same length as each of the first two books, into two movies, this one had a lot more time to breathe. They were able to better explore mood and tension and set up the emotional stuff.... which actually made it feel a little slow in places, very unlike the first two.

There was one scene in which Phillip Seymour Hoffman looked really stoned, which we know now that he probably was. Sad.

My 9yo's review was, "I didn't like it, nothing happened" but I liked it because I think it is a good part 1 of a two part movie. Part 2 has been set up properly. Bring on the denouement.

I am prepared for that just from watching the trailers to date. Want to see it though. Might wait for streaming, though.

I had no idea whatsoever that this movie opened this weekend.

They must not have advertised during sports ball and shows geared towards men.

Yeah, I read they had zero budget for advertising on the gladiator/gay man sex channels, so I can see how you may have missed it.

I saw one review that went, "This is the best war/terrorism/suicide bombing movie for children that I have ever seen."

Does Katpiss accuse people of sexual abuse in the film when they find naked photos of her?

Bold words from a man who saw the trailer on his Twilight Blu-Rays.

She's hot and a great actress, but she couldn't have handled that scandal worse.

I agree, but it really didn't bother me. She handled exactly like almost any young woman would that was hurt and embarrassed and overwhelmed by it. In some ways I thought it was refreshing to see her reaction rather than what some PR firms told her what her reaction should be.

I never find "stupid" to be refreshing.

Eh... like I said, she was embarrassed and hurt by it. Her reaction wasn't rational, but I wouldn't call it stupid.

Asserting that downloading those pictures is a sex crime? Yeah, that's stupid. Might it have felt emotionally justified at the time? Sure. Still stupid.

If she literally meant that anyone that downloaded it should be added to the sex crimes registry and not be allowed within 100 yards of a school or other facility for children, then yes that would be stupid.

If she was just mouthing off then it's not stupid, but it's pretty disrespectful to anyone that was victim to a real sex crime.

Sorry, not just downloaded. Looked at.
Anybody who looked at those pictures, you're perpetuating a sexual offense. You should cower with shame.

The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these Web sites are responsible.

Well, kinda. We have laws against peeping toms. This is kinda/sorta in that ballpark.

As I have seen her butthole and she probably would prefer I hadn't, I will cut her some slack. She has to now be famous in a world which has seen her butthole.

They are tenuously related. Like how poker and "go fish" are related because they use the same playing cards.
