Tom Hanks is the captain of a cargo vessel that gets captured by Somali pirates.
First, this is not Under Siege. Don't expect Tom Hanks to say, "Yeah, well, I also cook."
Second, he is incorrectly portrayed as a hero. They should have stuck to simply portraying him as someone who survived an ordeal.
Third, they don't get heavily into the fact that the real life guy's bad decisions got put them in pirate infested waters.
That being said, this is an entertaining film. It is STUNNING both how stupid the pirates are, and how easily piracy could be combated, yet isn't.
I even think the U.S. military gets a fair shake. They do everything to end this peacefully, and then the SEALS show up...
