This is the End

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Franco, Rogen, Robinson, Hill, McBride, and some other young Hollywood types are enjoying a party at Franco's house when the end of the world takes place.

This movie seems to be nothing more than a circle jerk between friends. It's like a studio owed them a favor, and they just made something to have fun.

The story is ass, as is the acting, but there's some entertainment here. Most is childish humor, like all the dicks, but if you're fans of the actors you'll enjoy them tearing themselves apart. Every one of them is mocked for their careers and for their public reputation. For example:
-Franco's link to Rogen is spelled out in, not at all subtle, homosexual undertones.
-Rogen's lack of roles that aren't exactly the same.
-Hill being "America's Sweetheart"
-McBride being a crazy asshole
-Robinson...well, I don't think he took a lot of shit.

What they do with Michael Cera is hilarious. You've never seen him like this before.

It's worth a viewing, particularly if you're under the influence, but it is by no means a classic.

I rented that last month.

All those penises had a purpose. (It's #1 on the list)

Are they playing themselves?

Yes, the actors play themselves, and make fun of each other's accomplishments.

I liked it. It seemed like someone watched Kevin Smith's Red State, heard how he actually wanted to end it but didn't have the budget, then made a whole movie about that.

Hill being "America's Sweetheart"

When did that happen?

Rogen's lack of roles that aren't exactly the same.
...
McBride being a crazy asshole

I haven't seen McBride do anything other than that routine. Ever. Even on TV.

Robinson...well, I don't think he took a lot of shit.

I like to think that role was supposed to go to Patrice O'Neal.

What they do with Michael Cera is hilarious.

He wasn't demeaned nearly enough.
