MIB III

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Looks promising.

It has to be better than that crappy second one was.

Not that any of these movies have been particularly good, but that preview seemed... worse than "meh"

Saw it over the weekend thanks to Redbox.

It was "meh". Tommy Lee is looking old, and it almost feels like the story is designed to allow him to sit as much as possible.

Will Smith carries the film, and it was nice to see funny Will Smith back. Got sick of the uber serious roles he's been taking on. He does a great job, and makes the film entertaining.

Set and characters designs were also pretty awesome. When Smith goes back in the past, and we see MIB HQ and all the aliens within in a 60s design, that was fantastic.

However, the story is shit. Not only does it wreck the first two films, but they missed out on a great series defining moment.

And don't even get me started on how they throw the whole "secret" part of the MIB out the window...

On top of that, every scene feels a little forced. Josh Brolin is a great actor, and he nails Tommy Lee Jones, but he and Smith just don't seem to mesh on screen. The dialogue didn't help matters either.

To paraphrase Peter Griffin: "Boy, you are not sucking me into the story at all. I am very aware that I'm watching a film right now." That's how I felt the whole time.

If you like the movies, it's worth seeing once, but I warn you, if this is the end of the series, it isn't a good ending.

5 out of 10.

Ok, SPOILERS BELOW:

The ending completely destroys the first movie, which sucked because the first film was decent. It also sucked that they missed a MUCH better ending. Here's how I would have ended it. J and K fight the two Boris', and to save K, J sacrifices himself. That would explain far, far more about K's mannerisms, and fit the other two movies much better. It also would have brought the series to a fantastic close. What was filmed was such a non-event, especially after hyping it up so much. I realize it'd be a huge event for that kid, but why would it affect K so much? It wouldn't. Such events would be a part of the job. Losing your partner though...now that'd be life altering.

Villain was trying too hard to sound like Tim Curry.

I forgot to mention that in my review.

I actually had to look up the imdb page for the film to see if it was Tim Curry.
