New TV Series?
Personally, I always found the Klingon stuff to be pretty one dimensional.

Star Trek: Captain Worf
It was interesting when TNG, through Worf, was building the Klingons up as this Ultimate Honor Warrior Species, and then Guinan comes along and says, "Don't believe the hype. Klingons also have accountants."

This would have been fine a few years ago. But now, how will it fit in with the new history of the fictional universe? Surely we can't blow up Vulcan and totally skew the timeline in all sorts of ways and still end up with TNG and DS9 which lead to this.
Two more movies and a couple of books and we'll have enough canon built up to start to consider this sort of thing. But not now.

-Vulcan gone. Vulcans relocated or nomads?
-Klingon fleet decimated.
-Full knowledge of Romulus' future (the nova).
I think you've already got enough there to tell a story. Plus, you can throw in the Ferengi, Kardassians, Borg, Q, etc.
I just don't know that the Klingon point of view is what people want to see. At the end of the day, the Klingons aren't human. Do humans really want to watch a TV series featuring another species as the heroes?

DS9 never appealed to me. I think the most interesting character was the Ferengi bartender, Quark.
The captain came off as a jackass, and by all accounts, he's a real son-of-a-bitch and very racist in real life.

I didn't get from that article that it was to be a Klingon ship on the show. I thought they meant something Federation.
Presuming Worf even becomes a part of the Federation in this new timeline. I mean what are the odds his family will still move to the Khitomer colony, be attacked by Romulans, and taken in by the Federation as the only survivor? Especially when you consider that how his grandfather handled his role as advocate for James T Kirk and Bones McCoy was one of the factors that led to his assignment to Khitomer colony and the family moving there. With all the massive timeline differences, how can we still expect the events of Star Trek VI to happen and thus lead to Worf being Worf?
That's what I mean about it being too soon. Not that you can't tell stories in the new timeline, but that they've got some careful planning to do to tell stories about characters so far in the new timeline's future. Unless, of course, this is to happen in the old timeline. But I bet those in charge of the franchise don't want to muddy those waters just yet.

Indeed, Quark was pretty cool, and the Ferengi, in spite of being ultracapitalists, still often had the moral high ground when humans chose to give them a hard time. But one of the coolest characters in the series was the Cardassian tailor, Garak. Given the back story of the situation with the space station it was interesting that he was there in the first place, and when bits of his past life slipped into the show... dizzam. I can unironically state that the series may have been better if it were centered on him, instead of Captain Jackass, which is a good name for him.

I disliked the ensemble characters of DS9. But I did like some of the political storylines. I always thought of each series as having a primary focus similar to that of an area of collegial study. Thusly:
TOS = Kinesiology
TNG = Psychology
DS9 = Poly Sci
Voyager = Sociology
I never really saw enough of Enterprise to say what it is associated with. I plan to get to it eventually.
