Clerks 3

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

No movie, but a play?

As long as they stick to dialogue, and don't try to work in a bunch of songs, it could work.

Update.

Smith announced recently that he is no longer going to make "Hit Somebody" his last film, as it will now be a mini-series (It's a 30 year story about hockey.).

Since he wanted one more film to go out on, and because he believes he has another story to tell about them, Clerks 3 will be a movie. They're shooting for a 2014 release.

I heard it via this podcast:

Hollywood Babble-On episode #000 (You can listen to it right on that page.)

Smith, Scott Mosier, and Ralph Garmin discuss Clerks 3 and how it came about.

Last film? Like he's retiring from directing?

Yeah, he's been planning that for awhile. He's found a new creative outlet in running an internet radio company.

Currently, Smith has:

S.I.R. (Smodcast Internet Radio)

He does live shows around the world with S.I.R. shows and his Q&As.

S.I.T. (Smodcast Internet Television) exists, churns our content, and is subscription based.

Smodcast Pictures is a distribution company he started last year. The plan is to distribute 10-12 hand picked indy films a year, and release them like he did Red State.

Clerks III will be another movie.

Hit Somebody is going to be a mini-series and air on a network. He confirmed this, but didn't say which network. They apparently want to announce it. I assume it'll be a cable network. I would speculate IFC or FX or Spike. Hell, even ESPN2 or ESPN classic would make sense.

He has hinted recently in the podcast linked and elsewhere that he'll be announcing more stuff this year.
