Peter Griffon turns into a Teddy Ruxpin in real life and hangs out with Marky Mark and sort of screws up his relationship with Jackie from That 70's Show and the movie is generally really raunchy but tries to actually have its characters engage in personal growth.
It had a few laughs. Not as many laughs as I had heard... between this and Change Up I think modern "comedy" these days is turning less from actual funny things, and more raunch. Sort of how like Ben Stiller was making "uncomfortable situations" humor 10 years ago.

The fact that the voice he's using is pretty much dead-on Peter Griffin makes me think of a phoned in "where's my paycheck" performance. This flick has to be the definition of a renter. Anymore than $5, you're getting cheated.

They even mentioned that in the movie... at least in the unrated edition that I saw. "No, I don't see it... I don't think I sound like Peter Griffin at all."Malcolm wrote:The fact that the voice he's using is pretty much dead-on Peter Griffin makes me think of a phoned in "where's my paycheck" performance. Cute movie, but like Gordo said, not as funny as I've heard. Still worth seeing once.
And it's not a "phone in" performance since Seth wrote, directed, and produced it. He just doesn't have a ton of range on his voices or doesn't have any new ones left.
Lots of cameos from folks in the Seth universe (Family Guy, Cleveland Show, and American Dad).
Malcolm will love the Ryan Reynolds cameo because he has no lines.
Also, TPR be on the lookout for a Ralph Garmin sighting.

He's got quite a bit of range.
MacFarlane voices Family Guy's main characters – Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin and Glenn Quagmire as well as Tom Tucker, his son Jake and additional characters.
...
Seth MacFarlane provides the voices of Stan and Roger...
He was being lazy. He can use his almost obsessive knowledge of old time Hollywood or vaudeville or Broadway and pick any performer with a funny voice that seems right, then base it off that. There, I just did $10,000 of character development in five seconds.

Only if it involves a dude in a Green Lantern costume beating the shit out him, leaving an imprint of the battery on his forehead, then saying, "Payback, motherfucker!" The more I think about it, that has John Stewart (notice the "h") written all over it.

What you're forgetting is the ease of doing certain voices. That might be why he went the Peter Griffin route. It's not exactly Peter, but close.
He probably went that route for a specific reason. To me, the voice fit the character. I'm glad they didn't make him cutesy.
As for the John Stewart comment, I'm probably the only person here who gets that.
