Post-apocalyptic world where vampires have been the catalyst for the destruction of society. Not smart vampires or ones that sparkle in daylight, but zombie like vampires. All brawn, no brains.
Mister is a vampire hunter, and he takes on a ward. They train and travel in search of a safe place to live. Along the way, they meet others who join them, and some humans who aren't very nice.
The highlight of the film for me is Danielle Harris. Through this film, and an episode of Psych I've discovered I have a crush on her.
Kelly McGillis is also here, but if you're looking for the girl from Top Gun, you'll be disappointed. Remember Carrie Fisher in the gold bikini in Return of the Jedi, and then you saw her years later when she, LITERALLY, looked like Jaba the Hutt? Similar situation here. Kelly still has a pretty face, but I think she was 50 when she made Top Gun...
Anyway, the story here is slow, but it works. Nobody is the uber hero, although Mister is bad ass (it helps when you write the film...). So you get an interesting mix of fighting and running.
One plot point kind of spoils the film towards the end. I shouldn't say "spoils", but it is ill conceived. It changes all the rules, and thus, makes no sense.
Still, worth seeing for anyone who likes this type of film. I went in expecting B movie effects and acting, and was pleasantly surprised.
