Aaron Sorkin is back

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

That's got a lot of potential. Good lead actor, good writers ... I am a little worried about Sorkin trying to seriously do a good conservative character without it ending up as either a caricature or a liberal in wolves clothing, but we'll see.

We watch this at home - it's what Cat does in real life. She's a mid-level producer at CNN.

I am not a huge fan of it, I think it's a little too soap opera like, and a little too politically preachy.

It's still a Sorkin show though, so I'll give it until the end of the first season.

I started and caught up with this show this weekend, and it was phenomenal. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Well scripted, brilliantly acted, and direction, production, and everything else is spot on. Aaron Sorkin always makes good TV, but this is the best work he's done to date.

It does have a bit of a liberal lean in some ways. But not nearly as much as some other shows he's done in the past. And it's pretty well tempered by the lead character being a centrist Republican. They do attack the tea party pretty heavily, but it's for being the puppets of the Koch brothers and also sometimes batshit crazy, not for being conservative.

It has a lot of similarity to Sport Night. But while Sports Night had the positive and optimistic outlook of someone who's career is really kicking into gear in their late 20s, this has the more realistic and gritty feel of someone slogging through their early 40s and trying to figure out where everything went wrong and if they should even try to get it back again.
