Here's my problem, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man came out in 2002. Do we really need to see Spider-Man's origin story AGAIN!?!?!?
Instead of constantly rehashing the same shit over and over, they should just continue moving forward. I get that there are new audiences who need to be told the origin, but this is the age of Netflix and Wikipedia. Not saying it doesn't need to be filmed, but it doesn't need to be filmed twice in 10 years!
Still, this looks decent. I like the wall climbing and web swinging sequence at the end, but the costume looks a little meh. Hopefully, it'll be enough to make me forget emo Maguire.

The Amazing Spider-Man
New trailer, and honestly, it seems like it could be decent. They're changing a lot of the original story, which I don't know if I agree with yet or not, but I do like that he's cutting jokes while fighting crime. That's something the Raimi films missed.
I also dig the Gwen Stacy route instead of Mary Jane. Emma Stone gave a great statement in saying that Mary Jane fell in love with Spider-Man, but Gwen Stacy fell in love with Peter Parker. Not sure where she got that from, but that's some serious knowledge of the source material.
I think will be one I take an extended lunch to see.

Rented this flick over the weekend.
While I didn't quite love the story, the cast put the Sam Raimi Spider-Man cast to shame.
From top to bottom, everyone brought their A game. Martin Sheen and Sally Field are perfectly cast as Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Emma Stone is perfect as Gwen Stacy, and Dennis Leary played her dad very solidly. The thing that really stood out to me though, is how Andrew Garfield's performance showed what a bad job Tobey McGuire did.
The story itself was decent, but felt rushed. Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard are mostly afterthoughts as this movie really focuses on Peter becoming Spider-Man, and learning to deal with it. Off the top of my head, my biggest criticism in the story would be a lapse of logic in the storytelling that helps them apply what is essentially a pointless plot device, and have a really hokey scene based on it (hint: it involves C. Thomas Howell).
One other criticism is that this Spider-Man doesn't seem to understand what "secret identity" means.
This trilogy seems to be headed towards Peter's parents' story, and I would bet on Norman Osbourne/The Green Goblin being the villain of the third film.
This is a very, very solid start to this new trilogy of Spidey flicks.
If you like superhero flicks and/or are a fan of Spidey, see it.

Plus, the industry has changed in how long it takes to get DVDs our for retail sale.
Look at The Avengers. That DVD was out in September and the movie opened in May.
