True Blood

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

HBO series about a world where vampires have "come out of the coffin" and are living freely among the population. Was made possible because the Japanese "perfected" artificial blood, and now vampires buy it by the 6-pack.

Takes place in northern (?) Louisiana, at least through the first episode... I finally got around to it on the DVR. I have 4-or-so more in the queue already.

So far so good.

Plus, copious boobies.

From HBO:

Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Fictional? But I am led to believe north-central LA.

Does that translate to "good times?"

Sounds fictional; it is "good times." Why do you think it's north-central? Is everbody rednecks, or do they mention Shreveport or something?

Tried watching this show.... for some reason I just can't get into it.

Way too corny, maybe it's just me.

One of the characters is some sort of public-road-fixer guy. The work crew had on t-shirts, with a silhouette of LA, and there was a star on the north-central part, in a "here we are!" sort of way.

Hard to splain.

And there are, indeed, lots of rednecks. Is that indicative? In ep 1 one guy had a medium creole accent.

Check this map. The orangish-red parishes ("Acadian") are "Cajun." They pretty much do talk like that guy in the Adam Sandler movie; although as with everywhere else in the country, the cities have enough transplants to smooth the average out. There is also a distinct New Orleans accent ("Greater New Orleans"), which sounds like a cross between Cajun and Brooklyn.

Everybody else is either black or redneck to the bone. The population is pretty much indistinguishable from Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas. And North Carolina and Tennessee, for that matter.

I'll have to try to get a better look at a shirt. I already deleted that ep from the DVR.

I believe all fake.

True blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series of novels.

Where Bon Temps "is" (just says Northern La)
