Why are people so dumb?

I was reading an article about the price of silver a few months ago, and some guy said "Well, i heard it was going to $100 within the year, so I bought it to help pay off my student loans and stuff." It was at $45, then cratered to $35.

Why are people so dumb?

Some people are just naive. "Surely these 2 urban youths selling electronics out of the trunk of their car are just honest entrepreneurs out to make an honest buck."

Wouldn't have happened if women were not allowed in public without being chaperoned by a male relative.
