Have no idea; never occurred to me it could be illegal.

I remember being told repeatedly when I was learning to drive that it was illegal.

As far as I know, it's only illegal in Kentucky.

I asked and it is not illegal to drive barefoot in Ohio.

Turns out it's legal everywhere, with the exception of Alabama if you are on a motorcycle.

Similar to restaurants, generally legal. Restaurants can kick you out for it, but it's legal to be barefoot.

And if you think about it, are the soles of your feet any dirtier than the soles of your shoes?

I've personally seen feet where I'd rather lick the soles of the shoes they just came out of than the feet themselves.

Well, the argument by many barefootists is that without shoes, the feet would be a lot cleaner than in shoes, and like Thib - are pretty much the same as your shoes.

In college I went barefoot for most of summers, I usually kept a pair of sandals hooked to my backpack for bathrooms and anywhere that would give me grief. But no one ever gave me grief about it. Well, my workplace did, they made me wear shoes.

The only problem I had was running on asphalt once. Owwwww.

I used to mow the lawn barefoot to keep the skin on my feet tough for long hikes.

It must take a while to kill a calf with a stiletto heel.
