Elektra - Paul will be watching this DVD...
I have an Elektra DVD sitting in front of me. You can totally tell that Jennifer Garner is looking specifically at me on that cover pic with those "come get me" eyes. Oh yeah, she want me big time.
I don't know much about Elektra, other than from a few comics. I think I have the DareDevil where Bullseye kills her, but I'm not a big DD fan.
I don't think the plot will be any good. I'm expecting the movie to be on par with Tomb Raider.
I'll post what I think of the movie after I watch it. Since Lost is a repeat I may watch it tonight.

I almost put in a Creationism disclaimer, but was too lazy.Troy wrote:I hear this movie already sucked when the earth was still cooling 4 billion years ago.
This is a falsehood and a travesty... God created everything as it is today, He created this movie with the intention of it sucking so hard it that is made POTC still look like Oscar Material!
Thanks for covering that base.

It was pretty bad, but I'd watch it again.
I didn't like Elektra's outfit. It looked stiff, too clean, too stylish, too bright, and too uncomfortable. But at least she wasn't wearing high heels (a'la tha Van Helsing woman). Also, I think a darker red (like Daredevil) would have been less campy.
Another problem I had was how Hollywood-generic the film was. They introduced a half-dozen issues, then resolved all of them by the end.. Everything was too neat and clean. It's like they were working from a Pillsubury instant movie kit. Add actors, shake, bake, and release.
I didn't expect much from the film. I was right about equating it with Tomb Raider.
Oh yeah, Elektra had that guy from E.R. in it. Luca? I don't watch the show so I don't know.
The best thing about the movie was that they cut out the Ben Aflek scene. In one of the deleted scenes she had a dream/vision where Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) asked when she'd return to him, and she replied that she would when she was ready... or something cheesey like that.

I like martial arts movies and I like Jennifer Garner (sic?) but I did not like this movie.
What was really pathetic was their attempt to add some mystery that was completely ruined in the previews.
Oh and the high heels bit, the boots she was wearing had quite a heel on it. You would definitely hear her clicking after you.
It was also disappointing that they teased you with some of the character psyche enough that you wanted to know more and then left you flat. Which was kinda my impression of the movie as a whole.

Wadda mean? Other people can read this?!
I haven't seen the flick yet, but I was never a fan of the Elektra character. She was simply a love interest for Matt Murdock and that's it.
I can't believe Marvel wasted time on that character, particularly when Daredevil got slammed the way it did.
Marvel needs to get to work on the next X-Men and Spiderman films.

Finally watched it on HBO In-Demand... I've got to sit and feed a baby every 3-4 hours between 7am and 5pm, so I have many moments where I'm sitting bored in the living room. And I've watched the first 3 seasons of the Sopranos, and they haven't started showing seasons 4 and 5 yet in anticipation of the season 6 premier in March, and I've gone through all the good movies, and I hadn't seen Elektra yet.
I watched it figuring it would suck more that a Dempcratic mayor of a city in a swamp below sea level, so I got to be pleasantly surprised... it didn't suck that bad.
Don't get me wrong. It sucked. Just not as badly as I thought it would.
Not complete suckage, but the suck factor was prevalent. 500 milibars of suckage, and holding.
Oh yeah, Grrrrl power!

I finally watched this film despite owning it for at least over a year (bargain bin DVDs under $5).
Let me start by saying that I've never been a fan of Elektra's. I think the character is crap. She's known more for her boyfriends (Daredevil & Wolverine) than for being an interesting character. In fact, the two most well known storylines involving Elektra involve her death. The first was when Bullseye killed her and the second was when the Avengers killed her and revealed her to be a Skrull.
Fitting that her movie also is completely unmemorable.
This thing was sloooooooow and pretty much pointless with no explanation given for Elektra's new abilities such as speed like the Flash when it comes to quickly moving around a person (despite normal running speed), her ability to see the future, and to see into other rooms and such without even looking in that direction.
The enemies are also pretty much unknowns with the exception of Typhoid Mary and I'm not sure they even name her in the film.
Problems with the script are everywhere. This was amateur hour from top to bottom. I'm not sure if Jennifer Garner is illiterate, but I'm assuming she'd have to be to agree to be in this film.
3 out of 10.
