I heard this film sucked, and storyline wise, it does. However, there's a lot of laughs here. It leads me to think that the folks who hated it weren't middle aged parents.
Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Scheinder, David Spade, and Kevin James are friends whose old basketball coach dies leading them to have a reunion of sorts. While together, they see more of each other's lives, and thus, the failures of their own.
Like I said, don't come for the story. There are a lot of laughs, but it's mostly family friendly stuff. A pretty good movie for date night.
