Caprica - BSG Spinoff/Prequel

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

So it looks like they are moving forward with this prequel... originally it was described as "Melrose Place except on Caprica before the cylons attacked," but now I dunno what's up, talking about "the doctor is a double agent" and what all.

Major Beck from Jericho has just been casted to play Joseph Adama, Admiral Adama's father.

Why would anyone intentionally describe anything as Melrose's Place?

That may have been my own vision derived from the early things I heard about it.

The trailer doesn't really change my mind.

If it helps, I'm pretty sure you're not the only source for that comparison.

Has been picked up as an ongoing series on Sci-Fi.

I think so. When Gordo gets online I'm sure he'll fill in the blanks here. I haven't watched any of the new Galactica yet, but I know he has.

I sort of remember seeing about half the first episode before forgetting I was supposed to be watching something and wondering off to do something else. Never got back to it.

I wanted to like it, but it was not for me.

My impression of it was that it was every element of BSG that I didn't like: the excessive melodrama and relationship angst. BSG got very tedious with that bullshit. This one loves that one but she is married to the other one and he knows but is just so in love and then there is tension and sadness and longing. Yawn. Blow more shit up.
