The Pacific - "Band of Brothers" follow-up.

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Geez, and the last episode with all the combat couldn't even bring the show back from the slump of the previous 2 episodes.

I'm also getting tired of seeing only crazy or sad Marines.

This show is not very good.

I was just about to give it a go. Should I not bother?

I'll probably never bother with it again.

If they were all as good as last Sunday's episode, it would have been worth watching for battle scenes alone.

I also note that this episode marks the beginning of when the writers could draw directly from Sledge's book, which explains why it didn't suck total ass.

Catching up on this series... The Old Breed bring this show back to watchable, especially the last episode. Sledge's account of the fighting help them a lot with the details, i guess.

If you are thinking about watching, start at V and go onward.

VI is BRUTAL, it is combat intensive, and rocks.

I'm disliking the show. All the Marines are either insane, sad, or hurt or sad, insane, and hurt. The chronic bed wetting was really a high point. They showed one really heroic Marine, John Basilone, then they shipped him home and it has been sad Lecky ever since.

Hoping good things for the Sledge story line.

Tonight's episode... ugh.

Was thinking, "Wow, look at all these sad Marines."

Then their CO gets shot... "Oh look, now they are even sadder."

I was tempted to just turn off the show at this point. Then Sledge is so sad that he tempted to give in to the madness, and he started swinging from sad to insane.

I will probably finish this series, but it is really rubbing me the wrong way and I will probably hate every minute of it. I may not actually finish it. They are even taking awesome Basilone and making him sad and letting us watch. What the hell were the producers thinking?

DVR is filling up so I decided to watch "Basilone."

FINALLY.... a Marine in this show that isn't sad or insane. He was a hard charger.

Got this for Christmas, and I just finished the one where Basilone dies (for some reason, the Blue Ray version doesn't have episode titles. WTF?). So there's two more to go.

It's probably unfair to compare it to Band of Brothers, but it's impossible not to. And the comparison is NOT favorable. Pacific's episodes just don't seem to have very interesting stories. The characters are only marginally interesting. It may be because the source material is more fragmented: two books, plus John Basilone.

I'm really not cut out to be a film/tv critic. I can't explain very well why I don't like Pacific; I just don't. I can sit down and watch and enjoy any B.o.B. episode, any time. I doubt I'll ever watch Pacific again.

Bottom line: disappointing.
