Sounds pretty hot, imho.

I've been wanting an iPhone, cept for the locked-down platform, Apple name, and lack of physical keyboard.

Now, Adroid 2.0 is out, with a pretty hot looking phone in the Verizon Droid, and free Google Navigation.

I've never been on Verizon before, but I'm seriously tempted to move.

I went to the Verizon store for the second time to play with it. This time a lot fewer people in the store, so played with it for about 10 minutes. Every once in a while, it seemed a little slow to respond to what I was doing, and required a slightly more purposeful touch than the iPhone did for scrolling web pages. Lack of multi-touch for pinching/stretching to zoom was slightly annoying.

The screen is GORGEOUS. Seeing webpages render in the 854x480 screen was amazing. It looked the most like the real web a browser has looked since using the iPhone. Every page I rendered worked great, although it was a bit hard to click on some links using my fingers. Zooming the page before trying to click made things much easier.

The dialpad is big, which is a great step up from my POS Windows Mobile phone which has keys so small you have to a) look at and b) be careful when trying to punch in a phone number.

Overall, I'd rate the Droid somewhere around an 8.5. It's not perfect, but I definitely want it.

Droid arrived yesterday.

I haven't done much with it yet, but I can sure see why iPhone people love their iPhones. This phone rocks.

I thought you had an iphone. Or had one on trial for a while.

My former boss had one, as well as numerous friends (and cashiers at the grocery store - wtf?), so I've used em a lot, but never owned one.

The Android = iPhone for people who don't like Apple/AT&T and want a more open platform as far as I can tell.

I still want a nice polished feel. Does it have that? Or is it a bit messy, as sometimes open platforms can be?

The baked in stuff feels great. I'm toying around with the dev platform, and there's a lot of stuff that makes it easy to standardize UI.
