I just realized where I get my long-term optimism. I remember watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos many times when I was young. I'm sure that must be where I get this certainty that if we don't blow ourselves up then we will inevitably one day do great things.

So now I know a smart car is not a Toyota, got it.

Smart is a seperate company, but they're an offshoot of Mercedes Benz. If that helps.
