I don't see how these two things are related. One thing is a company that signed a contract to pay a guy no matter what. The other is you pitching in some cash so your neighbor can buy a new car.Troy wrote:I like it much, much more than paying for some well connected banker who despite running his bank, and the economy into the ground, still receives a huge bonus that really doesn't help anyone.GORDON wrote:So you are happy you are pitching in some cash for your neighbor to buy a new car?Troy wrote:I like this program, myself. Of all the stimulus packages/plans so far, this one is actually helping exatly who It should be helping. Also, people are buying domestic, and Ford, who weathered the storm, is seeing a good upkick in sales, according to the news. (New Ford focuses are the #1 cash for clunkers rebate car)

The government is already screwing up this program.

So they can't handle hundreds of thousands of claims for this program without sucking.... I can't wait until they are getting millions of health care forms a month.

That's the beautiful part. The dealers are betting that the gov't will pay out. As of right now, they're all taking $4,500 hits on prices, assuming that there'll be some point in the future Diamond Joe Quimby hands out those mad, m4d duckets.

I am honestly to the point where if massive loads of cash is going to be redistributed into the "economy" anyway, just give tens of thousands each to individual people. Stop filtering it through banks and other entities who keep a huge cut due to "overhead" or whatever the excuse is.
I know it is a radical suggestion, but I think I could probably spend money in a more efficient manner than the government can. So give me lots and watch the economy around me improve.
