Nightmare Man

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

One of the "8 Movies to Die For" series from Horrorfest. (Not sure which year, I'm guessing this is the new batch.)

This is an indy, so I'll cut it a bit more slack.

This is the worst of the 6 films in this series that I've seen so far. I'm not really certain how this one is even in the top 8 either. The effects are fine, outside of really bad makeup for one particular character late in the film, but here the writing and acting are brutally bad.

To take it a step further, the writing here is so bad that there should be a drinking game to play as you watch the film. Examples of the stellar writing:
-The main plot, which isn't revealed until the end although you KNOW it's coming, makes everything you saw previously completely pointless and character actions almost cartoonish in their stupidity.
-The characters act about as stupid as possible. Far beyond the point where they insult the viewer's intelligence.
-Say "Thwack" count to one, then do it again, and again. That's how rapidly the killer is able to fire a crossbow. The best part of this, of course, is another character in an earlier scene going through the steps of loading the same crossbow.
-The killer struggling and ultimately failing to kill an unarmed, terrified woman in the middle of nowhere, yet kills everyone else without breaking the slighted sweat.
-A character (not named to prevent spoilers) manhandling a grown ass man (and who it is makes this even stupider) and then later not being able to do the same to a 100 pound girl.

I could on for awhile, but I don't want to waste more time than I have to on this review.

The acting throughout was shitty. However, I must make special mention of the abomination that someone called acting towards the end of the film. There is a scene where a girl is alone and it's brutal to watch. She's that bad. The ending is even worse because this girl teases getting naked throughout the film and you finally get to see her top off, but you then just get sad again because they're not attractive. I'm not certain the creators rehearsed the girl's acting or her breasts which makes one wonder how she got the part...

Avoid this movie unless you're a fan of movies that are funny even though they're not supposed to be.

3 out of 10.
